Since Pequot Lakes MN is situated within the heart of this major seasonal home and resort area, growth is inevitable with a 2013 population of 2,234 which is more than double the 1990 census. As a major entry to nearby resorts (notably Breezy Point) and the many surrounding lakeshore homes, virtually every tourist oriented commercial service can be found here.
The Paul Bunyan State Trail plan proposes that a major trail wayside (which would include a parking lot, restrooms, picnic area, landscaping and an information board) be located here.
