Jenkins MN
Jenkins MN – Paul Bunyan Trail Towns
Segment 2 |
Starting on mile marker 14.8 at Nisswa covering the areas of Pequot Lakes, Jenkins, to just north of the Pine River city limits. |
Jenkins MN is considered the gateway to the Whitefish chain of lakes. The Whitefish chain of lakes is comprised of 14 interconnected lakes situated near the communities of Crosslake, Pequot Lakes, and Pine River and represents one of the favorite summer home and resort locations in the Brainerd Lakes Area.
With a 2013 population of 438, Jenkins MN is a smaller community with less of a business district; however, the Paul Bunyan Trail user’s basic need for refreshment or necessities can be met here. One disadvantage is the fact that the trail is separated from the tiny commercial core by the area’s major traffic carrier, TH 371, which runs parallel to the trail. Trail users should take caution when crossing at this location.
